10,000 tubes of India’s Melacare cream detected

Nearly 5,000 tubes of pharmaceutical products seized for suspected quality violations

On March 11, a suspect shipment at a warehouse in Noi Bai International Airport was inspected by Team No.1 of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department under the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) in coordination with Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch, under Ha Noi Customs Department, and Economic Security Division- PA04 (Hanoi Police)

The infringing shipment is in under Air waybill No.6072, House Air waybill No.2021 and transported on Flight No. EY0971of Etihad Airways to Noi Bai International Airport on January 20.

The consignee stated on the Air waybill wasHOANG HA FORWARDING TRADING LIMITED COMPANY NO. 25; NO. 15 ADJACENT BLOCK, VAN PHU URBAN AREA, PHU LA WARD, HA DONG DISTRICT, HANOI CITY, VIETNAM.

The consignee stated on the House Air waybill wasMR. DAO VAN GIANG, XA DOI BINH, HUYEN UNG HOA, HANOI, VIETNAM.

Through specialized measures, the Customs detected signs ofviolation of the shipment.

According to arepresentative of Team 1, the physical inspection results showed that the shipment included about 10,000 tubes of Melacare cream made in India.

The product is subject to conditional imports. The importer must be issued a permit by the Ministry of Health.

However, the consignee did not present it at the time of inspection, and the shipment did not have apermit.

The case is being investigated by the competent agency.

Melacare cream made from India is sold from VND250,000 to VND300,000/tube in Vietnam.

Thus, the value of the infringing shipment in the market is more than VND2billion.
