The commodities at CMIT port includes 35 containers of 72 BMW cars. The destination port on the manifest of the shipment is VICT-Ho Chi Minh City port.
It is known that there are also about 450 BMW cars. The number of cars imported to VICT port in 2016 and stopped by the Customs clearance after the Department of Investigation and Anti-smuggling - General Department of Customs discovered violations in the car import of the Euro Auto., JSC (Euro Auto).
Earlier, on November 30, 2016, the Ministry of Finance requested the General Department of Customs to stop the Customs clearance for BMW cars imported by the Euro Auto Company and requested the Supreme People’s Procuracy to consider to prosecute the case for these violations. On December 20, 2016, the Department of Investigation and Anti-smuggling (General Department of Customs) issued Decision No. 18 on the prosecution of the smuggling case of the Euro Auto., JSC.
This decision made on the basis of results from the investigation, verification and documents, evidence and after discussion and mutual agreement with the Supreme People’s Court on imports of BMW cars against the Customs Law of the Euro Auto., JSC.

After issuing Decision on criminal prosecution of the case, the Department transferred the case to the Investigation Police Agency (Ministry of Public Security) for further investigation as described by the end of December 2016.
