Agricultural imports and exports increase across Nam Can Border Gate

According to the branch, the imports and exports at Nam Can Border gate has sharply decreased due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, after the Government issued Resolution 128 temporarily providing regulations on effective Covid-19 prevention and control, so imports and exports at Nam Can Border Gate have increased.
Exports across the border gate are mainly construction materials, consumer goods, fly ash, vegetable oil, animal feed, diesel for cars, organic fertilizer, lime powder, construction machinery, which are made in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, Vietnam mainly imports forest and agricultural products from Laos.
This period is the harvest season of taro, squash and ginger in Laos, so these items are imported to Vietnam for sale. However, when Lao vehicles transport goods to the border gate, Vietnamese traders must transship goods to the country’s vehicles to comply with requirements on Covid-19 control and prevention, the branch said.
More than 10 tons of agricultural products are imported from Laos to Vietnam on average per day.
Between January and October, the branch processed 977 declaration forms of 79 enterprises with trade of US$25,621.24.
In addition, it has processed 7,853 means of transport across the border gate.
As of October, the branch collected tariffs on imports and exports worth VND10.4 billion, a rise of 187.18% year-on-year, meeting 100.01% of the target set by the General Department of Vietnam Customs
