VCN - Despite recommendations from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the number of vehicles carrying agricultural products to the border gate area is increasing rapidly because traders and businesses increased shipments to the border gate when they heard that exports at border gates were showing favourable signs.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade provided the latest information on the customs clearance of goods at the northern border gates from February 15 to 12:00 on February 16.

In Lang Son province, at Huu Nghi international border gate there are 376 agricultural vehicles full of fruit and vegetables such as dragon fruit, jackfruit, chilli and long an (higher than February 15 of 84 vehicles).

At Tan Thanh Border Gate there are not imports and exports, one dragon fruit truck is stuck. At Coc Nam border gate there are not import and export activities, 10 agricultural vehicles, grocery, cowhide and cosmetic vehicles are stuck

At Chi Ma border gate: There are four vehicles (one vehicle for re-import of black jelly, one vehicle of pepper and two vehicles of dried figs). At Dong Dang Railway Station, 19 train cars of ceramic porcelain dishes have been imported and 22 train cars of steel round are stuck

In Lao Cai province, at Kim Thanh II border gate, there are more than 365 trucks of all kinds, mainly dragon fruit.

Notably, the number of vehicles moving to border gate areas has increased rapidly because traders and businesses increased shipments when they heard information from various channels that exports at the border gates are showing more favourable signs.

In other provinces, there are no changes compared to February 14 and 15.

Previously, on February 14, the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommended businesses and organisations and individuals closely monitor the situation at the border gate areas, limit shipments to borders, except for official exports and Chinese partners capable of receiving goods.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed enterprises, organisations and individuals contact Chinese partners to negotiate for conversion to official export and take measures to change such as changes on packaging, labels of goods, traceability stamping, and food safety assurance.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated the situation of acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Corona virus (Covid-19) is complex and unpredictable and has many impacts on the economy as well as activities such as production, trading, import and export of goods, especially agricultural products and fruits.

Therefore, although Vietnam's agricultural, forestry, fishery and fruit shipments can be cleared for export, progress will be much slower than in the past due to strict measures for epidemic prevention.
