An Giang Customs seizes huge case of illegally exported gauze masks to be sent to Cambodia
320 boxes of gauze masks were seized by Vinh Xuong Customs on March 3rd |
According to Vinh Xuong Customs Branch (An Giang Customs Department), on the evening of March 3rd, during the patrol at the open path of Vinh Xuong border area (An Giang), customs officials detected tens of sacks at the area close to Vinh Xuong border with a watchman so they decided to inspect. When this “watchman” saw the working group, he ran away and left the sacks behind.
Suspecting the sacks contained smuggled goods, Vinh Xuong Customs Branch coordinated with Song Tien Border Post to conduct physical inspection and detected 320 boxes of gauze mask inside the sacks.
Vinh Xuong Customs Branch made a record and held in custody the goods for verification and handling.
This was a second case of illegal exporting gauze masks discovered by Vinh Xuong Customs Branch recently. Previously, on February 22, the unit chased and arrested Thai Thanh Phong (born in 1987, residing at Phu Tan, An Giang province) while he was illegally transporting 500 boxes of gauze masks (equivalent to 25,000 pieces) and 70kg of western medicine to Cambodia for consumption.
