APEC forum seeks to boost women’s economic empowerment
The forum will include a meeting on women and economy-related policy partnership in APEC.
At the upcoming dialogue, ministers will recommend incentives for women’s participation in the economy and submit them to the APEC Summit in November.
The forum will feature three main events, namely the meeting on policy partnership on women and the economy on September 26 and 27, the public-private dialogue on women and the economy on September 28, and the high-level policy dialogue on women and the economy on September 29.
There will also be seven fringe events, including conferences, workshops, and cultural shows.
Pham Ngoc Tien, Director of the Gender Equality Department of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs said, “This year’s WEF topic will contribute to APEC’s joint efforts and realize the recommendations made last year. We hope that a ministerial statement on women and the economy the will be approved, focusing on gender equality for sustainable, creative, and inclusive growth, competitiveness and innovation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises owned by women, and narrowing the gender gap in human resource development.”
Outcomes of the events aim to help enhance the connectivity among APEC women entrepreneurs and between public and private sectors. They are also hoped to give more opportunities to women-led businesses and female entrepreneurs to engage in the region’s value and supply chains while promoting APEC women’s integration and economic power.
