Binh Duong Customs: Sanctions and collect tax arrears more than VND 2.3 billion via container scanning machines

VCN - Binh Duong Customs Department recently said that from the beginning of the year until now, through checking import and export goods via container scanning machines, the unit has detected 54 violations with the amount of monetary penalties of administrative violations and tax arrears more than VND 2.3 billion.

Cargo inspection points using container scanning machines at Binh Duong Customs operate 24/7.

To support enterprises during the Covid-19 pandemic, Binh Duong Customs Department is deploying cargo clearance at two cargo inspection points using with container scanning machines 24/7 to implement quick clearance procedures for import and export goods.

In the first four months of 2020, through screening at the two locations, the unit scanned 10,319 containers belonging to 7,835 declarations.

Ho Van Duong, Deputy Manager of Customs Branch managing cargo outside the industrial park, said the unit has arranged officials to inspect goods and staff to operate the scanner 24/7. At the same time, notifying the unit managing inspection point to arrange personnel to serve cargo inspection when needed. After scanning, goods are cleared and promptly taken out of the inspection area so there is no congestion in yards and outside the national highway. Early screening is a move supported by the business community.

Besides facilitating import and export activities of enterprises, using the container scanning machine also helps Customs authorities enhance the ability to detect infringing goods and to scan the entire image of goods in containers, contributing to preventing and deterring fraud in import and export activities.

Since the beginning of 2020 until now, Binh Duong Customs Department has detected 54 cases of declaring incorrect names and codes of goods, sanctioned administrative violations of more than VND 718 million and collecting tax arrears of some VND 1.6 billion.
