Binh Duong: Import turnover achieves high growth right at the beginning of 2021

Notably, the import turnover in Binh Duong continued growing, the trade balance in January 2021 saw a trade surplus of $629 million. In particular, the domestic investment sector saw a trade surplus of $150 million and the FDI sector saw a trade surplus of $479 million.

Specifically, the export turnover in January 2021 of Binh Duong reached $2.98 billion, increasing by 61.7% over the same period in 2020. The import turnover reached $2.35 billion, increasing by 69% over the same period last year.

Many key export items of Binh Duong in January 2021 achieved good growth over the same period in 2020. For example, export turnover of computers, electronic products and components reached $87.6 million, increasing by 75.1% over the same period; wood product export turnover is estimated at $616.2 million, increasing by 88.8% over the same period last year.

The main export market was the US, accounting for 65.2% of the total, increasing by 68.9% over the same period. Respectively, Hong Kong accounted for 7.9% of the total and increasing by 32.1%; Taiwan accounted for 6.2%, an increase of 23.7%; Japan accounted for 3.8%, an increase of 10.5%; Singapore accounted for 2.4%, increasing by 8.2% over the same period in 2020.

For the textile and garment and footwear industries, which are the ones facing many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, also started to flourish when firms received many orders until the end of the first quarter. Export turnover in January 2021 is estimated at $278.8 million, up 19.5% over the same period in 2020.

Binh Duong Customs Department said that during the last Lunar New Year holiday (from February 10 to February 16), the unit settled cargo clearance for 56 enterprises with 801 declarations, while import and export turnover reached nearly $80 million.
