Cao Bang: Temporary seizure of more than 1.8 tonnes of tobacco materials

Tobacco materials were seized by competent force.

On April 23, Inter-sector enforcement team 389 of Cao Bang province chaired and coordinated with Customs Enforcement Unit – Cao Bang Customs Department, Ngoc Con Border Post (Chongqing – Cao Bang) to inspect means of transport for a truck with license plate No.11C-020.23 driven by Nguyen Dinh Phuong (born in 1982, residing in Co Lung commune, Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province) moving from Po Peo border gate (Chongqing) to Cao Bang City with signs of transporting goods of unknown origin.

At the time of inspection, competent forces discovered 1,820kg of tobacco materials, worth about VND49 million.

The vehicle’s operator could not present an invoice and documents proving the origin of goods.

According to Phuong's testimony, the above goods were bought from people in Ngoc Con commune, Chongqing district to bring to Cao Bang city for sale.

The inspection team has made a record of the case and issued a decision to temporarily seize all of the above goods to handle according to regulations.
