Car imports in November, Indonesia surpassed Thailand in volume

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in November, the volume of CBU cars registered for import customs declaration reached 11,744, equivalent to VND267 million, down 29.6 percent (equivalent to a decrease of 4,939 cars) compared to October.
CBU cars imported in November mainly originated from five major markets, including Indonesia with5,807 cars, Thailand with4,009 cars, China with480 cars, Mexico with 472 cars and Japan with271 cars.
The CBU car volume imported from these markets accounted for 94% of total cars imported into Vietnam in November.
In terms of categories, the volume of cars with 9 seats or fewerwas 8,549 cars, with a value of US$154.64 million, accounting for 72.8 percent of the volume of imported CBU cars.
The volume of imported cars with 9 seats or fewerdropped sharply by 32.3 percent compared to October.
The volume of car with nine seats or fewerimported into Ho Chi Minh City Port was 4,664 cars, down by 35.5 percent and into Hai Phong Port was 3,859 cars, decreasing by 8.6 percent compared to October.
The two major import markets are Indonesia with 5,141 cars and Thailand with 2,794 cars, down 28.3 percent compared to October.

The volume of trucks carrying out import procedures in November reached 2,309, with a value of US$56.4 million, a sharp decrease of 24.8 percent in volume and 8.1 percent in value compared to October.
In particular, 1,215 trucks originated from Thailand, down 48.1 percent compared to October and accounted for 53 percent of the total trucks imported to Vietnam in November. A total of 666 trucks originated from Indonesia, twofold compared to October; 206 trucks originated from China, fivefold compared to October.
1,203 trucks were imported intothe port area Ho Chi Minh City, down 16.9 percent compared to October; 685 trucks were imported into Hai Phong port, down 44.2 percent compared to October.
In addition, in November, Vietnam also imported a number of cars with 9 seats or more and 881 specialized cars.
