Cases of seizing narcotics by Customs sector increased by nearly 120%

This is remarkable information relating to the work of anti-smuggling in recent time, especially when regarding the situation of drug transportation by air continuing to increase, particularly for Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Consecutively, in July and August, Customs forces promptly detected and arrested more than a dozen cases of violations about narcotics at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
In that, for only about 2 weeks at the end of August 2018, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch (HCM City Customs Department) consecutively detected 11 cases, with a total weight of over 12,84kg of dried herbs suspected to be narcotics which were hidden in an aircraft cargo bay among candy and clothes.
Previously, in the last 3 days of July (26, 27, 30), Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch also discovered three cases with a total weight of nearly 2.7 kg of herbs which were cannabis leaves and flowers.
Notably, from the beginning of 2018 until now, many large drug cases have happened with the number of exhibits up to tens of kilograms, even hundreds of kilograms.
Typically, the case when Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department seized 100kg of cocaine - the largest case of seizing cocaine in Vietnam.
The other prominent cases were such as the Ha Tinh Customs Department that seized 52 bars of heroin and 25 kg of meth; Quang Ninh Customs Department arrested 10 bars of heroin; Hai Phong Customs Department in collaboration with Hai Phong police to close the 618Q project and arrested 5.3 kg of meth ...
