Cau Treo Customs seized 40,000 tablets of synthetic narcotics via scanning machine

VCN – Through the discussion with Customs News’ reporters, Nguyen Van Hanh – Deputy Manager of Cau Treo Customs Branch (Ha Tinh Customs Department) said that, by scanning the luggage of passengers with a scanning machine, the unit arrested a person for transporting 40,000 tablets of synthetic narcotics.

At 6:30 PM, on June 5, in the classification channel of immigration of Cau Treo international border, the customs officials of Cau Treo Customs Branch detected suspicious images of goods inside two wooden vases (use for decoration purpose) via inspection and control of passengers’ luggage by scanning machine. Those vases were transported by a truck with license plate No. 29C-415.30 from Laos to Vietnam. The driver was Phan Tat Huong who was born on 14/7/1986 and lived at Hamlet 5A, Nghi Van, Nghi Loc, Nghe An.

After that, customs officials of Cau Treo Customs Branch collaborated with the Border post of Cau Treo international border gate and the Anti-Drug Enforcement Unit (Ha Tinh Customs Department) to request a physical inspection. When the driver opened the two wooden vases, the officials discovered many pink and blue nylon packs, containing a total of about 40,000 tablets of synthetic narcotics (ecstasy).

After taking the initial testimony, Huong claimed the drugs were bought in Laos and brought to Vietnam for consumption.

Hanh said that this achievement has followed the successes of customs inspection, supervision and control forces - Cau Treo Customs Branch in the implementation of plan to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, illegal transportation of goods, drugs and precursors in 2019.

Currently, Huong and the exhibits have been handed over to competent forces for processing in accordance with regulations.
