Collaborate on inspections and supervision of illegally imported cattle and poultry

The Cattle and poultry are seized by Customs

According to the General Department of Customs, the Department has directed the provincial and city Customs Departments to strengthen inspections and supervision with the import of cattle and poultry at the border, to ensure implementation in accordance with Customs procedures process and State management policies.

Accordingly, units prohibit cattle and poultry with unknown origin to ensure the quality, safety and hygiene of imported food for domestic consumption.

To further enhance the prevention of diseases and protection of the Breeding sector and people’s health, the General Department of Customs has requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate to closely inspect the import of cattle and poultry at the border gates, and ensure that Customs procedures and regulations of the State on the quarantine of imported cattle and poultry are correctly implemented.

Based on monitoring the situation of diseases and food safety with cattle and poultry, the Agriculture sector needs to provide information from the potential traders and individuals to the functional forces including Customs to actively prevent and combat the illegal transportation of the pathogens of cattle and poultry from abroad into Vietnam.
