Complete examination of 60 containers of fined wood

It took more than three weeks to complete the examination of 60 wood containers.

According to the leader of Unit 3, inspection results showed that, initially, there were more than 1,000 m³ of wood inside containers. The examination and collecting samples for assessment were completed. Currently, the unit is waiting for the final result to make a record and handle.

From August 17, Unit 3 worked with HCM City Customs Department, Dong Nai Customs Department to inspect 60 containers of suspected senegal rosewood imported into Vietnam via Cat Lai port (HCM City).

More than 1,000 m3 of woods was imported illegally

This shipment was transported from Nigeria to Cat Lai port – HCM City. According to the bill of lading, the consignee in Vietnam was a company located in Binh Duong. However, this company declined to receive the goods.

According to the initial determination of professional authority, it was likely this was senegal rosewood. This type of wood was listed in Appendix II in the "List of wild fauna and flora species in the annexes to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora" attached to the notice No. 296/TB-CTVN-HTQT dated November 27, 2019 of CITES Management Authority in Vietnam - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. This type of wood must have a license (Cites) of both the exporting country and the importing country to import.
