Control “strictly” smuggled pork and trade fraud

The Deputy Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to strengthen the work of inspection, market management, for supervising the activities of traders, big suppliers, and large distribution units of pork.

Specifically, the Deputy Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to proactively coordinate with other Ministries, sectors and localities in strengthening the work of inspection, market management, for supervising the activities of traders, big suppliers, and large distribution units of pork in order to reduce costs in circulation and retail distribution. It also helps to reduce the retail price of pork and ensures the control of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) towards the Government’s direction.

At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade shall direct and coordinate with the authorities and specialized management forces at the border areas in order to intensify the inspection and control of smuggling pork products and trade frauds, so that consumers and farmers in the country can be protected.

He also asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to continue directing localities and farmers to repopulate breeding stocks by selecting high quality animals and applying new technology in animal husbandry in order to improve productivity, reduce production costs; increasing the capacity of competition in the market.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has already coordinated with the concerned ministries and sectors to take the initiative in understanding the situation and advising the Government about the measures for ensuring the sustainable development of animal husbandry, and to stabilize the domestic food market as well as provide income for farmers.

Additionally, the Ministry of Information and Communications shall direct the media agencies to inform fully, and report promptly on the supply and prices of food items, especially for pork, ensuring that the situation of price increases due to psychological factors will not happen.

The provincial People's Committees shall direct competent authorities to synchronously implement the measures to restore the development of pig breeding on a reasonable scale; promote epidemic prevention; facilitate the circulation of livestock and poultry, and especially pigs in the area; prevent speculation, hoarding goods to increase prices; advise people to change their food consumption structure in line with domestic food supply.
