On the evening of December 2, in Hanoi, the Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung chaired the regular Government press conference for November 2020.
At the press conference, he reviewed results in the economic and social sectors over the past month and the first months of the year. In which, there were many prominent highlights.
He said that the Prime Minister's view is to be consistent with the set targets, not to step back from the pandemic, to turn risks into opportunities, and achieve socio-economic goals at the highest rate, at 2.5-3% growth in 2020.
In particular, regarding the new Covid-19 cases in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Mai Tien Dung affirmed that the solutions we have carried out recently are not "It’s too late to lock the stable when the horse is stolen”, neither are we surprised with these cases amid the current pandemic around the world.
However, drawing experience in managing isolated people or welcoming people from abroad to Vietnam, the Prime Minister assigned agencies to strictly control the border and illegal entry and strictly control isolation areas.
The Prime Minister also requested a review to clarify responsibilities and strictly handle related organizations and individuals that violate the regulations on isolation and pandemic control and announce the results to the public.
Moreover, the country and the world still face many potential risks. The view of the Government isconsistent with set tasks and solutions; determined not to step back from the pandemic, difficulties and challenges; turn "risk" into "opportunity" for development; promote creativity, joint efforts to overcome difficulties; strive to achieve the highest level of the 2020 plan targets and objectives of the whole country and of each ministry, agency and locality.
The tasks set out for the remaining days of 2020 are very difficult, the Prime Minister asked ministries, agencies and localities to have high determination and make the best efforts to perform better.
In particular, at the press conference, the government spokesperson conveyed the Prime Minister's three initiatives.
First, the Prime Minister proposes to plant one billion trees per year (equivalent to an area of five million hectares of forest per year). The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to develop specific projects and policies to implement so as to bring economic value while contributing to environmental protection and natural disaster prevention.
Second, the Prime Minister asks to stimulate consumer demand and encourage goods from cities and towns to rural areas. At the same time, to encourage goods from rural areas to cities. Because at present, domestic demand is a very important issue, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the close control of import, export, entry and exit.
Third, the Prime Minister assigns the Ministry of Health to develop a project on health insurance reform, especially paying attention to children under 6 years old.
