The official document stated that now, avian influenza is developing in the world and is possible to penetrate into our country and spread to people. To control this situation, the Prime Minister directed ministries and branches to enhance the prevention and fight against the epidemics, especially the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defense must direct the functional force to deploy synchronously and effectively the measures to prevent and arrest smuggled poultry.

In order to prevent and arrest smuggled poultry, the General Department of Customs requested units to continue to grasp the directions of the Prime Minister and leaders of the Ministry of Finance on the implementation of the project on preventing and stopping the transport and trafficking of illegally imported poultry and poultry products.

The heads of the units shall have to directly assign and urge their sub-units basing on tasks and actual situation at their localities to enhance professional measures to determine modes, tricks, lines and groups of perpetrators illegally trading and transporting poultryand poultry products.

The units must actively build key and effective plans to fight against and prevent serious smuggling cases taking place in the areas under their management.

According to the Customs Newspaper, in recent days, the Customs forces of the northern border provinces have been deployed and discovered and handled many smuggling cases of poultry from China to Vietnam.
