Customs force discover 21 cases of heroin trafficking

Notably, in March of 2017, Customs force coordinated to detect and seize Khat leave through sea port area (Hai Phong port) for the very first time.

Specifically, on 21/3, at Tan Vu port (Hai Phong) with the witness of leaders of People’s Committee of Hai Phong City, Hai Phong Customs Department collaborated with Northern Anti-smuggling Enforcement Unit (Unit 1 – Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department, General Department of Customs) and Hai Phong Polic city to conduct a physical inspection a container of violated goods. As a result, the competent forces discovered 353 packages of Khat leaves, the total weight of 2.8 tons.

According to the evaluation of competent forces, the source of narcotic that transporting from oversea to Vietnam continues to evolve complexly, increasing both in nature, level, subjects, scope and type of drugs.

Emerging in the Vietnam-Laos border, drugs from the "Golden Triangle" area smuggled into our country, then transported to another place, with 20% of domestic consumption and 80% transported to the third country.

In addition, the Vietnam-China border, which is considered as the path of 90% of synthetic drugs into Vietnam, especially the border areas and border gates of the Northern provinces.
