Customs sector has participated to destroy 131 cases about drugs

VCN – Facing the activities of drug criminals, the Ministry of Finance (General Department of Vietnam Customs) has grasped thoroughly and implemented urgently the directives of leaders. From the beginning of the year, the Customs sector has worked with competent forces to tackle 131 cases with 118 people.

The total exhibits was seized included 19.166 kg and 258 bricks of heroin; 3.031 kg of cocaine; 15.291 kg of marijuana; 21kg of opium; 1,608.993 kg and 307,889 tablets of synthetic narcotics.

Some typical cases were: On August 7, at the International Terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department worked with the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department (General Department of Vietnam Customs); Ho Chi Minh City Police to check entry passengerDia Hamidou, Senegalese national, on a flight from Bankok to Ho Chi Minh City. The inspection results showed that the subject had swallowed 77 tablets of cocaine (about 1.55 kg).

On September 20 and 23, Lao Bao Customs Branch (Quang Tri Customs Department) seized two major drug cases. Specifically, on 20 September, 15kg of meth and two foreign people were seized ; on September 23 they seized 4.5kg, 3,027 tablets of synthetic drugs and one person.

On September 21, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security and the Tay Ninh Customs Department to seize more than 13kg of meth and ketamine, some 10,000 tablets of synthetic drugs and nine subjects.

On September 29, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to detain about 30kg of synthetic drugs and four subjects.

Cases dossiers and exhibits have been handed over to the police for handling.
