Discover a shipment containing synthetic narcotics via international airmail

VCN – On 19/6, the Hanoi Customs force chaired to inspect a shipment which was sent from England to Vietnam via international airmail and discovered 102 tablet of synthetic narcotics inside the package.

In the process of cargo classification in the type of low value, tax exemption (£10.15), through scanning, the Hanoi Customs force detected a shipment with bill of lading No. RU815219275GB that had a suspicious sign of containing narcotics.

The bill of lading showed the goods were electronic switch components and sent from England to Vietnam via international airmail. The consignee is: Mr Sellar, House 32, 317 Hoang Hoa Tham, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, Viennam, but there was no information of the consignor.

The scanner image showed that the above goods had a distinguishing form contrary to the description shown on the bill of lading (components of the electronic switch).

On the morning of 19/6, at the Northern International Postal Operations Center (VN post logistics company, located at Phu Cuong Commune, Soc Son District, Hanoi), the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team (Hanoi Customs Department) coordinated with the Hanoi Express Customs Branch (Hanoi Customs Department) and the Northern Anti-Drug Enforcement Unit (Unit 5, Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, General Department of Vietnam Customs); Noi Bai International Airport Police Station, Soc Son Police and the Northern International Postal Operations Center to conduct a physical inspection of the above shipment.

As a result, the competent forces detected 102 triangular shaped capsules in green banana leaves, packed in a white plastic bag, wrapped in a silver outer bag in a carton box.

According to Customs force, this packing is aimed to neutralize the screening process.

Through the quick testing by the Institute of Criminal Science (Ministry of Public Security), the sample tested positive as MDMA.

On the same day, the competent force was finalizing the dossier, handing over to PC47, Hanoi City Police for handling in accordance with regulations.
