Discovery over 100kg animal horns transported via Noi Bai international airport

Specifically, at 2:00 PM on 14th March 2017, while doing procedures for passengers on the flight code KQ 870 from Narobi, Kenya to Noi Bai (landing at 1:30 PM), the Customs force discovered two suitcases with card numbers: 3706KQ002462 and 3706KQ002486 with suspicious signs. On the luggage tag there is no recipient name, and did not show weight. Through preliminary screening, the imported goods are considered wild animal products (rhinoceros horn).
Immediately, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department (General Department of Customs) coordinated with the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch to conduct a physical inspection of these two packages. They discovered inside the luggage with blue card No. 3706KQ002486 contained 26 animal horns, weight is 3kg. In contrast, inside the brown suitcase with card No. 3706KQ002462 contained 20 horns, weight is 50.7 kg.
Currently, Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch is cooperating with the representative of the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources - Vietnam Academy of Sciences to conduct the appraise the goods. The incident is being investigated by the functional forces for more clarification.
