Enhance the competitive capacity and development of logistics

VCN - The Prime Minister has approved the Action Plan for enhancing the competitive capacity and development of Vietnam logistics until 2025 in Decision 200/QD-TTg dated 02/14/2017.

The goals to achieve by 2025, the proportion of the sector contributed to GDP reaches 8-10%, the growth rate reaches 15 - 20%, the proportion of outsourced logistics will reach 50-60%, logistics cost will reduce equal to 16-20% of GDP, ranking at 50th or above according to the Logistics performance Index (LPI) in the world.

Besides that, focusing on attracting investment in infrastructure development, building up logistics centers at regional level and international levels, and improve the efficiency of connection between Vietnam and other countries in order to make Vietnam become a regional logistics hub.

Furthermore, developing leading logistics companies with enough competitive capacity in the domestic market and international market, and support the development of logistics enterprises by following modern and professional guidelines.

According to the plan, there are 6 groups of main tasks: 1. To improve policies and laws of logistics; 2. Improving logistics infrastructure; 3. Capacity and quality of logistics enterprises; 4. Development of logistics market; 5. Training, raise awareness and quality of human resources; 6. And Other tasks.

In particular, finalizing the policy, promoting to attract investment in logistics infrastructure; strengthening cooperation with foreign partners to expand logistics infrastructure connections; Investing to expand logistics infrastructure to connect Vietnam ports to other neighboring countries; focus on calling for building a logistics center ​​type I in Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City; focus on calling for building a logistics center ​​type II in Lang Son, Lao Cai, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Quy Nhon and Can Tho.

With the task group of enhancing competitive capacity and service quality of logistics enterprises, encourage and guide enterprises in some sectors to apply the model of advanced supply chain such as: the textile industry, leather and footwear industry, furniture industry, agricultural products - foods; mechanical engineering - manufacturing; small and medium enterprises; encouraged some industrial zones, export processing zones to build industrial parks based on the logistics model; deeply integrated logistics services to the agricultural sector, industrial, export-import operations, domestic cargo traffic and other service sectors; support to build up strong logistics groups, towards foreign investment and export logistics services.

As for the task group of developing the logistics market, enhance trade promotion for logistics services; attracting product sources from Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and southern China transport to Vietnam then ship to other countries and vice versa; support to improve efficiency of deployment, marketing and expand product source for Cai Mep - Thi Vai port; and promoting the development of outsourced logistics services.
