The GDVC has required customs departments to direct local customs branches to accelerate the analysis of goods information to implement risk assessment on expiry dates for imported goods including food, beverages, medicine and medical ingredients, especially for consignments that have arrived at the port but have expired customs clearance; conduct a physical inspection for goods with signs of violation; check the expiry date of foods and beverages on the goods label as per regulations of Decree 43/2017/ND-CP dated April 14, 2017 (amended and supplemented in Decree 111/2021/ND-CP on December 9, 2021); check the remaining expiry date of imported medicine and medicinal ingredients in the customs clearance process according to the instructions in the GDVC’s Official Dispatch 6068/TCHQ-GSQL dated September 16, 2020.
Local customs unit must request the Customs declarant to fully declare the expiry date of imported goods on the customs declaration.
If detecting violations of the expiry date of goods, the country’s top customs agency requires customs units to comply with Article 17 of Decree 98/2020/ND-CP of the Government on sanctions in commercial activities to perform and promptly notify competent agencies for coordination in handling.
