“Right after the epidemic information released, the Foreign Ministry has actively asked Vietnamese diplomatic missions in foreign countries, including China to frequently update the epidemic situation and Vietnamese citizen’s aspiration in host countries. The Foreign Ministry has announced hot lines of all Vietnamese representative offices in China as they are ready to provide support and protection when necessary.

They have maintained contacts with more than 400 Vietnamese living, studying, and visiting China, not including short visits which have not been registered for protection with the Embassy. Through contacts, all those citizens have been reported stable health,” the official said

Hang confirmed that there is one Vietnamese positive with coronarivus who is under treatment in Jiangxi. 29 requests for return to Vietnam submitted by Vietnamese citizens in Hubei are processed with the highest efforts to bring them home as soon as possible. Vietnam has provided humanitarian aids worth half a million US dollars to China and praised Chinese efforts in containing the epidemic.

The spokeswoman confirmed that Vietnam will fulfill its obligation as an ASEAN member state and the ASEAN Chair in 2020 with close monitoring to ensure safety and security for the ASEAN Year.

Regarding Vietnam’s viewpoint on Brexit, the spokeswoman said Vietnam has been keeping a close watch on the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit) and hopes that this process will go smoothly,

Vietnam wishes for a smooth Brexit process which will help promote the important roles of the UK and the EU and actively contribute to peace, stability and development in the world.

The country will go ahead with the development of the strategic partnership with the UK and the comprehensive partnership and cooperation with the EU, in line with the interests of Vietnam, the UK, as well as the EU, Hang added.
