The unit has issued decisions on post-clearance audits for 27 suspicious cases; and stopped information collection for five.
As of February 15, 2022, the branch has collected and remitted to the state budget VND20,265 billion, reaching 50% of the assigned target of VND40 billion.
Promoting efficiency in post-audit work, the Customs Department has stepped up the collection, review and analysis of information and data on key and suspicious items in terms of value, origin, and codes; focused on high-risk business enterprises with complicated import-export activities and production and import activities in many different areas.
The department has been carrying out inspection, origin determination, fight against counterfeiting of origin, labeling of goods, infringement of intellectual property rights according to the programs and plans set forth.
HCM City Customs Department said due to the heavy influence of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, along with the appearance of a new strain of coronavirus (Omicron) with a rapid spread in early 2022, it has greatly affected the performance of businesses. Those who face difficulties in production have actively applied for extending the submission of documents and post-clearance audit. Therefore, the progress of the post-customs clearance audits has been also affected.

In order to improve the efficiency of post-customs clearance audit, HCM City Customs Department in 2022 will continue to develop plans in four major areas, including inspecting codes for high-risk items, items that have had inspection and examination conclusions but continue to violate; inspecting the value of high-price/high-tax items such as minerals, consumer goods; inspecting tax policies including duty-free goods and 17 free trade agreements; reforming the post-customs clearance audit for processed and manufactured goods for export.
