HCM City Customs Department seizes more than 31kg of drugs hidden inside parcel

On January 12, 2021, HCM City Express Customs Branch under HCM City Customs Department worked with the Anti-drugs enforcement team – HCM City Customs Department, Unit 6 – Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department (General Department of Vietnam Customs), HCM City Police and conducted an inspection for 16 consignments imported into Vietnam through express delivery and post service from Germany, France, the US, Hong Kong, China, seized 31,236.4 grams of drugs of all kinds including MDMA synthetic drugs, cocaine, ketamine and marijuana.

The drugs were hidden sophisticatedly by laminating drugs into foil paper and hiding them in bedsheets; between two layers of cartons containing gifts of clothes, confectionary and camouflaged in powdered milk cartons and candy packages.
For the first time in the operation area, the Express Customs Branch found that the drugs were illegally transported in two packages of goods imported into Vietnam via a new route from Hong Kong and China.

Also, the Anti-Drugs Enforcement Team and the Express Customs Branch successfully closed the GE520 project, approved by the Director of HCM City Customs Department Dinh Ngoc Thang and examinated five consignments imported from Germany to Vietnam, via express delivery, post service, and seized a large amount of MDMA synthetic drugs (nearly 10 kg).

After the seizure of more than 20.5 kg of drugs of all kinds at the end of November 2020 through express delivery and post service, HCM City Customs Department had a victory on the battle of drug prevention, contributing to destroy and prevent drug trafficking into Vietnam.
