HCM City Customs: Seize 5 cases of transporting narcotics in the beginning of 2018
Narcotics was hidden in gift package that sent from Germany to Vietnam. Those drugs were seized by HCM City Customs Department. |
According to HCM City Customs Department, the cases of illegal narcotics transport were detected mostly among gifts and presents sent from overseas to Vietnam via express mail and airline to Tan SonNhat International Airport.
According to Mr. Huynh Nam, leader of the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team of HCM City Customs Department, most of the drugs discovered in gift packages recently were ecstasy tablets or marijuana. ..
The subjects often divided into small packs of ecstasy contained in nylon bags under laminated drugs, vacuum sealed, and stored in personal items in order to distract the competent authorities at the border.
Currently, the HCM City Customs Department is implementing drastic anti-smuggling and trade frauds campaigns during and after the Lunar New Year; to continue the advance screening plan for goods in transit, transferring at HCM City Customs Department’s border gate, to prevent timely violations, especially illegal transportation of narcotics...
As known, in 2017, the HCM City Customs Department has implemented the drug enforcement and key control plan. Thereby, they have detected a total of 25 cases, seized 1,762 grams of cocaine; 1,648 grams of heroin; 554 grams of methamphetamine; 3,802 grams of ecstasy (MDMA) and 30,101 grams of marijuana.
From 1/1 to 27/01/2018, the HCM City Customs Department discovered and made administrative violations for 65 cases of breaking customs law. Total value of violation goods was 19.5 billion VND, decreased by 3% in number of cases, but increased by 473% in value over the same period in 2017. |
