According to Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch, Cosco shipping line has just re-exported over 100 containers of imported scrap. Previously, in early March 2021, this shipping line also re-exported 95 containers.
The above scrap was transported by the shipping company to Cat Lai port in 2018, but goods’ owners did not come to implement procedures for receiving the goods. The inspection results of the Customs authority and inspection agency showed that there were 340 containers of imported scrap that did not meet the standards and imported quality in accordance with regulations so it was forced to re-export them.
After twice re-exporting nearly 200 containers, the remaining scrap is over 140 containers. Cosco shipping line will continue to re-export in the near future.
Besides Cosco shipping company, TS line has also completed the re-export of 41 containers of imported scrap that do not meet the prescribed quality.
According to the Saigon Port Area 1 Customs Branch, in recent years, the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has actively coordinated with the Saigon New Port Corporation to drastically implement many solutions to quickly handle backlogged goods at Cat Lai port, especially scrap.
In particular, classifying over 1,000 containers of scrap which were not eligible for import in accordance with the current regulations and forced to re-export./.
