GDVC’s Director General gave an award of VND200 million to the investors and authorities for their outstanding contribution in tackling the case

International organised criminals have used air transport and services of express delivery and sending goods under the form of non-commercial gifts to conceal drugs and transport to Taiwan.

The Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department has proposed the leader of the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) set up action plan No. HK668.

The department also worked with the C04 to investigate the case.

Through reports from the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department and international cooperation channels, the investigators collected valuable information about suspects and their tricks of hiding drugs in goods exported to Taiwan via air and drug warehouses in HCM City and Ha Noi.

The investors and regulatory authorities, including Division 7, PC04 of HCM City Police, Binh Chanh Police, and Nha Be district police coordinated to tackle the transnational drug trafficking ring.

At about 4:30 pm on May 19, Yeh Chen Chia took a Grab car license plate No 51G to an apartment building in Nha Be district, HCM City to meet Huang Yen Sheng and an accomplice to receive three drug cartons.

During transporting drugs, Yeh Chen Chia was afraid of being detected by authorities and requested the Grab driver to move to a commercial centre in Tan Phu district to easily escape.

At 8:30 pm on May 19, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department and C04 worked regulatory authorities to arrest Yeh Chen Chia, the accomplice and seize 30 kilograms hidden within three containers.

After detecting drugs, the investigators arrested the two suspects and inspected the suspected drug hiding places.

Authorities seized 9kg of ketamine hidden inside metal blocks.

During a search of a warehouse of T.T Co.,Ltd in Binh Chanh district, HCM City, police seized 150kg of ketamine hidden inside five electric motors.

Meanwhile, C04 coordinated with Thuong Tin District Police to make a raid and found that 90 kg of ketamine had concealed inside pig abdomens awaiting delivery to China.

The investigators have arrested five suspects, including three Taiwanese nationals and one Chinese national and one Vietnamese national, and seized 27kg of ketamine.

The case is under investigation by authorities, especially clarifying the origin of drugs the suspects transported into Vietnam.

This is the largest transnational drug trafficking ring seized by Customs and Police.

In this transnational drug crime ring, three Taiwanese suspects were disguised as Vietnamese and used fake citizen identity cards to hire drug warehouses in Ha Noi and HCM City.
