Investigate illegal transport of cigarettes, attacking law enforcement officials

He requested the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province to direct Steering Committee 389 of Kien Giang Province to implement the petitions of the Permanent Office of the National Steering Committee 389, to clarify the organisation, line, leader and subjects that attacked law enforcement officials, strictly handle cases in accordance with the law.
At the same time, to strengthen patrol, control and timely prevent smuggling and illegal transport of goods across borders, take measures to control and arrest those resisting and attacking law enforcement officials, ensuring safety for officials and soldiers on duty.
Earlier, at 2:00AM on the morning on April 28, the Covid-19 pandemic prevention team (including six solders of border defence force and one police officer) coordinated for anti-smuggling in the coastal near the milestone 314 , in the Xa Xia Quarter, My Duc Ward, Ha Tien City. The force discovered a group of about 200 subjects transporting about 250 barrels of cigarettes (50 cigarette cartons/barrel) from Cambodia to Vietnam.
The working group reported via radio to ask Ha Tien Border Post to sent backup. At that moment, about 40 soldiers including the Border Guard and the Mobile Police Team, came to the scene.
Facing the competent forces, about 100 subjects used weapons such as sticks, stones and sharp knives to fight back to retain the goods and push towards Cambodia.
As a result, Captain Pham Anh Tuan, Captain of the Mobile Police Team, was injured in his head, face and right arm, and four Border Guard soldiers were injured. The seized exhibits included 500 Hero cigarettes cartons and 13 sticks smugglers used to fight the forces.
After the incident, on the afternoon on April 29, Ha Tien City Police (Kien Giang) prosecuted the case, prosecuted the accused and detained nine subjects for attacking law enforcement officials in accordance with Clause 1, Article 330 of Criminal Code.
