Japan regarded as Vietnam’s leading important and long-term partner
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomes Fumio Kishida, Chairman of the Policy Research Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (L).
The government leader highlighted the sound development of Vietnam-Japan relations across a variety of fields over the past 45 years, especially the higher level of political trust between the two nations.
He thanked Kishida for his contributions to the bilateral ties in his capacity as Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance and hoped that ishida will continue his support for the bilateral cooperation.
In reply, the Japanese official said he was glad to see that Japan has become a leading foreign investor in Vietnam again with a record number of more than 1,700 businesses investing in the Southeast Asian country.
Highly rating Vietnam’s economic growth of 6.81% last year, he said Japan desires to contribute to the country’s infrastructure development, including urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Japanese companies are greatly interested in the Vietnamese market, he said while suggesting both nations should step up their cooperation on regional and international issues of shared concern.
PM Phuc called for the two countries to enhance political trust by intensifying high-level delegation exchange, and deepening ties between their parties and legislative bodies.
Both sides need to work hand in hand in organizing activities to mark the 45th founding of diplomatic ties in 2018, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges between their localities to boost mutual understanding, which provides a firm foundation for them to maintain lasting relationship.
Having thanked Japan for providing its official development assistance (ODA) to the Vietnamese economy via, PM Phuc said Vietnam attaches importance to the funding and redoubles efforts to realize its ODA commitments with Japan.
Vietnam is keen to continue using Japanese ODA in building major infrastructure projects and training human resources to cope with climate change, Phuc said while showing his hope that
Phuc said he hopes Japan will maintain its place as the top foreign investor, and invest more in the local support industry, new energy, processing industry, and high-tech agriculture. The cabinet leader urged the two countries to enhance bilateral trade, and asked Japan to help Vietnam improve the quality of goods and logistics services, and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese fruits and aquatic products to enter the Japanese market.
