Lang Son: Prosecuting 128 cases with 198 perpetrators in the first quarter of 2017

VCN- According to a report from the Steering Committee 389 of Lang Son province, in the first quarter of 2017, the competent forces in Lang Son detected 1,088 smuggling cases, commercial frauds and counterfeit goods with infringing goods of more than 13 billion vnd; collected more than 8 billion vnd for the State budget and prosecuted 128 out of 198 perpetrators.

Out of 1,088 cases of violations, there were 550 cases of commercial transportation of prohibited goods and smuggled goods; 525 commercial frauds and tax fraud; and 13 cases related to counterfeit goods.

The statistics of the Lang Son Customs Department showed that in the first quarter of 2017, the Customs force detected and handled 117 cases with an administrative fine of more than 663 million vnd and an additional fine of more than 76 million vnd; and prosecuted 1 case with 1 perpetrators.

The Lang Son Border Guard also detected and handled 41 cases of illegal trade and transportation of prohibited goods and smuggled goods with an administrative fine of 26 million vnd and prosecuted 16 cases and 25 perpetrators. Accordingly, the Lang Son Department of Market Management detected and handled 186 cases of trade and transportation of prohibited goods, smuggled goods; 320 trade frauds; 11 cases related to counterfeit goods with an administrative fine of more than 1.3 billion vnd and an additional penalty, retrospective tax of more than 943 million vnd; and a sale of confiscated goods of more than 190 million vnd.

Particularly, only in the first quarter of 2017, the Lang Son Police detected and handled 279 cases of violations with an administrative fine of 220 million vnd; and additional fines, tax arrears of nearly 699 million vnd; and prosecuted 111 cases with 172 perpetrators.

In recent times, the situation of trade and transportation of prohibited items such as drugs, fireworks and counterfeit money through Lang Son province has been still complicated with many violations. According to a representative of the Steering Committee 389 of Lang Son province, in the upcoming time, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the area will be quite complicated. Therefore, in order to effectively control and prevent this situation, the Steering Committee 389 of Lang Son province has directed the competent forces in the province to strengthen inspections and control.

Speaking to a reporter of the Customs Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Cong Truong, the Vice- Chairman of the People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee 389 of Lang Son said the Steering Committee 389 of Lang Son province directed the competent forces in the area to closely inspect and monitor all the trails at the border to prevent lines, trading points and transportation of smuggled goods or counterfeit goods. At the same time, the competent forces shall conduct physical inspections and supervision to prevent people from illegally exiting through the trails. In particular, the competent force will make barriers when hot spots related to smuggling arise.
