Responding to the request to strengthen measures for preventing and fighting influenza A / H7N9, to not let the disease have chances to penetrate inland, Mr Nguyen Cong Truong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee In 389 Lang Son province stated that, not only strengthening the control of the entry of visitors from China but also managing tightly the situation of transporting poultry across the border.

In particular, at hot spots like: Bon Don (Tan Thanh border gate, Van Lang); Goc Buoi, Goc Nhan, 05-06 station (Coc Nam, Huu Nghi border gate), fish bone carvings 1229, 1225, 1227, 1232 (Chi Ma border gate, Loc Binh), Customs force and Border forces has set up a field shack; At the same time, setting up a temporary barrier at unchecked trails to control the movement of poultry across the border. In addition, the Border Guard, Customs, Quarantine forces collaborated to set up special teams (at least 3 people) to scan the boundary, pegged in 24/24 at trails and roads cross the border, to prevent illegal acts and carrying illegal goods.
According to Mr. Truong, to prevent smuggled cattle and poultry, functional forces have increased the number of troops on the frontier border, while setting up fences more than 1,000 m of barbed wire and more than 50 shackles at trails. In particular, the province has directed the functional branches in the province and the district of Van Lang to build fences, block the roads illegally and sensitive positions in the area of Coc Nam border gate, Van Lang district.

Talking to reporters of Customs Newspaper, Mr. Vu Xuan Luyen, Manager of Chi Ma Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department) said that , to implement the direction of the province, Customs forces coordinate with officials of Border guards to promote and mobilize people not to handle smuggled poultry. With this drastic action, according to statistics from the Steering Committee 389 Lang Son, from 1st January 2017 to 28th February 2017, the provincial forces have detected more than 30 cases of illegal poultry transport, seized 250 chickens, More than 9,000 chickens, more than 2,000kg of pigeons. Typically, on 7th February 2017, the Market Management Team No. 4 at Chi Lang district in collaboration with Tung Dien Traffic Police Station found 6.500 ducklings from 5- 7 days old originating from China; On 17th February 2017, Chi Ma Customs Branch coordinated with police force arrested 1,700 ducklings and handed over to quarantine agency for destruction according to regulations. Recently (28th February 2017), Lang Son police have detected and seized nearly 7,000 chickens, estimated at about 50 million vnd.
However, according to the representative of the Customs Enforcement Team (Lang Son Customs Department), due to the high profit from selling poultry, the subjects are still operating recklessly despite the control of the functional forces. The General Department of Customs has directed the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department and the provincial Customs Department to intensify the work of preventing and arresting illegally imported poultry across borders. The official document states that the current situation of avian influenza is developing in the world, capable of penetrating into our country and spreading to humans. To control this situation, the Prime Minister directed the ministries and branches to intensify the prevention and fight against epidemics, especially the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defense to direct the functional forces to prevent and seize smuggled poultry effectively. In order to prevent and arrest poultry smuggled, the General Department of Customs requests the units to continue to grasp the direction of the Prime Minister and leaders of the Ministry of Finance on the implementation of the project of preventing and stopping transportation and trading of poultry and illegally imported poultry products. The heads of the units have to direct and urge their attached units to base themselves on the tasks and situation of the localities to intensify professional measures to determine modes, tricks, lines and groups, objects of trade and illegal transport of poultry and poultry products. The units shall take initiative in elaborating plans and fighting in a concentrated and effective manner so as to prevent serious smuggling in the areas under their respective management. |
