Leadership Spirit of Entrepreneurs born in the Year of the Tiger

VCN - Of the 12 zodiac animals, the Tiger is the third, representing authority, courage and indomitableness.

Therefore, like their eponymous zodiac animal, in the marketplace, people born in the year of the Tiger are decisive, daring and courageous and are also talented breadwinners.

In Vietnam, dominant entrepreneurs born in the year of the Tiger in the marketplace are not uncommon such as Do Quang Hien, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of T&T Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB), Securities Joint Stock Company, Saigon - Hanoi Securities Corporation (SHS), SHB Urban and Industrial Park Development Joint Stock Company (SHB Land), BSH Insurance Corporation and also the Chairman of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Hanoi.

Mr. Do Quang Hien

In which, T&T Group of businessman Do Quang Hien has now germinated from an enterprise specializing in providing electronic goods to a large multi-industry corporation with more than 80,000 employees working both domestically and abroad in 7 key fields such as finance and investment, real estate; transport infrastructure, seaports and logistics; energy and environment; health, education and sports.

Not only in terms of business, Mr. Do Quang Hien is also known by fans as "boss" Hien due to his huge investment in the football field, contributing to the successes of the generation of national football players such as Quang Hai, Van Hau and Hung Dung.

In particular, in the "war" against Covid-19, Mr. Do Quang Hien's businesses have also made significant contributions in donating millions of Covid-19 test kits; cooperation in technology transfer and production of test kits and vaccines against Covid-19.

Sharing his business views in an exchange with the press, "boss" Hien said: "’Profit-oriented’ is always pursued by every business, but so far I feel I'm not happy because of the revenue of T&T or SHB anymore, but because my efforts have at least contributed to society."

The same age as the boss of T&T Group, another brilliant businessman is Nguyen Duy Hung, who is currently holding many different positions such as Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Saigon Securities Joint Stock Company (SSI), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Xuyen Thai Binh Joint Stock Company (PAN), Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of NDH Vietnam Co., Ltd.

In contrast to his “exciting” activity on social networks and media with many useful comments on the economy and stock market, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung is rather quiet about himself.

Mr. Nguyễn Duy Hưng

As recently shared by the Chairman of SSI, every 5 year-plan of the company and himself is always done in three years. Values, awards or honours for the SSI Group are always goals that he and the whole company strive for.

As a result, SSI has become the securities company with the largest market value in Southeast Asia, far surpassing the long-established companies of Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Born in 1974, Mr. Le Vinh Son, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Son Ha International Joint Stock Company, and also a leader of many other companies, is also a talented businessman in the year of the Tiger. Not only in the marketplace but also in the political arena, Mr. Le Vinh Son is also a member of the Hanoi People's Council, term XVI, term 2021-2026, along with leaders of a number of associations and professional organizations.

Mr. Lê Vĩnh Sơn

Given the "threshold" value of the enterprise, Mr. Le Vinh Son said Son Ha is currently at a higher level than Vietnam's small and medium-sized enterprises.

“Now is the time to move on, to cross this threshold. As a matter of fact, many businesses at this threshold have switched to safer areas, sold off their portfolios to manage on a small scale in order to reduce risks. If we don't do that, we have no choice but to get ahead. Because it’s very risky to stay in the middle,” Mr. Son said.

Women of the Tiger: Strong and decisive

In folk belief, the Tiger woman has a high level of progress and always tries her best to achieve the set goal. With a high sense of independence and bravery, they often hold leadership positions in work as well as in life. As a result, businesswomen in the year of the Tiger have also gained many achievements that are not inferior to those of men.

Ms. Hà Thị Thu Thanh

The most prominent that should be mentioned is "female general" Ha Thi Thu Thanh, who has steered Deloitte Vietnam to become the number 1 consulting and auditing company in Vietnam and in Southeast Asia.

In sharing her business philosophy, Ms. Thanh said a resilient business is referred to as a business with sustainable development; a wholehearted leader will be considered a persistent leader.

These two key factors enable businesses to respond firmly and recover more than other ordinary businesses. "Doing what you want providing it must be sustainable and worthy, vaccines for businesses are from the inside out, the immune system is from effective governance systems, clear thoughts of leaders are always the principle of our organisation," Mrs. Thanh said.

Ms. Ngô Tường Vi

Many popular entrepreneurs of the Tiger year also make significant contributions to the country's economy. As the first Vietnamese enterprise to export lychees to Japan, fresh mangoes, and frozen durians to the US, contributing to paving the way for Vietnamese agricultural products to be exported to the world's most difficult markets, Ms. Tuong Vy, Deputy Director of Chanh Thu Fruit Import-Export Co., Ltd. said after Covid-19 has posed both opportunities and challenges, this is the time for business leaders to change their mindset.

Talking about the path of a businesswoman born in 1986, Ms. Ngo Tuong Vy said that it is believed that Tiger women are born with a strong and decisive personality but that's only a part of the story. In fact, everything doesn’t come easily. Instead, it requires us to be hardworking, daring to accept challenges in addition to our own weak points that make a difference for female entrepreneurs.
