Lottery revenues in the south increase by more than 8% in 2016

VCN- According to the Vietnam Lottery Company (Vietlott), the Southern Lottery Council has released an overall assessment on the business situation in 2016. Specifically, total revenues in the market (with 22 members, including Vietlott) increased by 8.09% and exceeded the plan.

The member companies of the Southern Lottery Council organized many social welfare activities.

Statistics of the Southern Lottery Council showed that revenues of lottery release in the market reached 85,000 billion vnd, an increase of 5.98% compared to 2015; and award revenues reached 66,678 billion vnd, an increase of 8.09% compared to 2015. The proportion of consumption on average accounted for 77.85%, 1.52% higher than in 2015.

The Southern Lottery Council paid 22,348 billion vnd into the State budget, an increase of 8.75% compared to 2015 and reached 121.54% of the plan for 2016. The award costs reached 32,087 billion vnd and the proportion of award costs in total revenues accounted for 48.12%. The costs of lottery release reached 11,839 billion vnd and the proportion of the costs of lottery release in total revenue was 17.76%; the profits reached 8,879 billion vnd, an increase of 9.66% compared to 2015 and reached 125.34% of the plan for 2016. The award costs and costs of lottery release were in line with current regulations.

The Southern Lottery Council also stated: The lottery business activities in the Southern regions were favourable and convenient in 2016 because the Ministry of Finance promoted the sales of lottery release at step 2 from 1st July 2016, reducing the gaps in the price of lottery among regions on the same day. In addition, the economic situation in Vietnam continued to recover; the demand for lottery tickets in the Southern market has increased over the years and many companies have been very interested in strengthening the lottery market and implementing operational measures effectively in a timely fashion.

In 2016, the member companies of the Southern Lottery Council organized many social welfare activities with a total value of 251.322 billion vnd, including building houses for the poor and repairs of 1,270 houses for the poor with a value of 54.076 billion vnd.

The Southern Lottery Council has contributed to funding for education, health, social welfare for the poor, priority families under policies, Vietnamese heroic mothers, victims of Agent Orange (dioxin), donations for vehicles of disabled people, building bridges and rural roads, disaster recovery and other social welfare activities worth 197.255 billion vnd.
