"Made in Vietnam" Covid-19 test kits exported to European countries
After being licensed by the UK’s Department of Health and Social Care, the Covid-19 test kitsmade by Viet A Company have been exclusively ordered by a partner to distribute in the UK, India, Mexico, USA and some countries in Europe.
Earlier, in March, 20 countries had negotiated to buy this kit. In the immediate future, Viet A company will export to Iran, Finland, Malaysia and Ukraine. Among them, Iran ordered 200,000 tests (4,000 kits) and Ukraine ordered 15,000 tests (300 kits).
In Vietnam, the Hanoi People's Committee also ordered 200,000 tests to use for the needs of Hanoi and to give to Italy.
According to health experts, the only method in the world that has been recognized by the WHO as the "gold standard" for detecting SARS-CoV-2 is Real-Time PCR.
This method is also used by the Military Medical Academy and Viet A Company in researching and producing the test kits. The test kits will produce positive or negative results for SARS-CoV-2 within around two hours.
Currently, Viet A's production capacity can reach about 10,000 kits per day.In necessary cases, it can increase its capacity by three times, completely meeting domestic and export demands, or international assistance.
The production cost of the test kits has been funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, so the current price is only about VND400,000-600,000 / test.
The market price of the US’Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is 2-3 times higher, but not yet commercially produced in the form of "ready to use" kit. One kit includes 50 tests, using 50 times, theoretically for 50 patients.
Criteria of sensitivity, 100% effective, 100% accuracy and repeatability at the standard laboratory of the Military Medical University and Viet A Company on this test kitare similar to those of test kits guided by the CDC and WHO.
Concerning the prevention of Covid-19, on the morning of April 21, the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Western Pacific Region held an online press conference to inform the development of the Covid-19 disease in the region, WHO response measures as well as situations that countries will have to face in the future.
According to WHO statistics, Vietnam rankssecond lowest rate of Covid-19 cases in the total population of the Western Pacific region, with the rate of three cases per 100,000 people.
Regarding Viet Nam's Covid-19 disease prevention and control, WHO Director of the Western Pacific commented that Vietnam had worked out a suitable plan and carried out exactly what was expected in each period.
However, the WHO Western Pacific Director also frankly recommended that Vietnam should carefully consider how to begin to remove the restrictions and they should not be all at once.
The WHO Western Pacific Director said that the easing and removal of social distancing measures should be based on factors such as real data on the Covid-19 epidemic, people's awareness of the disease, and their response ability of the health system, as well as people's accessibility to health services.
