More incentives to attract overseas Vietnamese
Addressing a year-end meeting on cooperation between the VFF and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) on December, the VFF leader said the 4.5 million overseas Vietnamese (OV) are an indispensable part of the nation and that there should be more incentives to encourage them to return to their homeland.
Nhan said his organization will hold regular meetings with OV experts, scientists, scholars and intellectuals to listen to their opinion.
The VFF leader underscored the need to encourage OV come back to the homeland to establish startups and organise more art performances and contests to boost the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese cultural identity among OV communities.
The conference was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh who asked the VFF Central Committee and the COVA to work hand in hand to advise the Government on policies and solutions to ensure the legal rights of OV and encourage them to make more contributions to the home country’s development.
It is essential to call for OV, especially younger generations, to return to serve the development process in their homeland, Minh said, while stressing the importance of effective communications and stronger cooperation between the VFF and the COVA.
The Deputy PM also urged the two organizations to support OV in religious and belief activities both at home and abroad.
