More than 100 enterprises attended the seminar "Improving competitiveness, promoting the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products"

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Editor-in-Chief of Customs News Vu Thi Anh Hong said, according to statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, currently, Vietnamese agricultural products are presented in over 180 countries and territories. In particular, there are many products exported worth over US$1 billion in totla, such as: coffee, rice, vegetables, shrimp, and shutchi catfish, among others. Exports not only stimulate economic growth and increase national income but also helps to solve problems relating to jobs and provide stable income for millions of domestic employees.

Besides the above-mentioned results, Vietnam's agricultural and aquatic products still have a number of problems, including exporting mainly raw products, exports via lumpsum; export turnover to the high-end market is still small; limiting in the processing. Moreover, due to the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the cost of services, transportation and logistics has increased, leading to difficulties for businesses and limiting competitiveness to export goods.
To overcome these difficulties and improve competitiveness, as well as promote the export of agricultural products to Vietnam's traditional trading partners, and countries under the EVFTA and CPTPP, with the approval of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Customs News held a seminar: "Improving competitiveness, promoting the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products".

“We hope that, through this seminar, speakers, associations, and businesses will have many opinions to identify the current situation and limitations in the internals of the industry, the market, the regulations, or the mechanisms and policies, etc., From that, we would have recommendations and suggestions for practical solutions in order to promote Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery exports to dominate the world market and achieve the plan set out by the agricultural sector in 2022, as well as sustainable development in the coming years," Mrs. Vu Thi Anh Hong said.
At the seminar, Mr. Dao Duy Tam, Deputy Director of the Customs Control and Supervision Department, said that support of the Customs sector for agricultural, forestry and fishery exporters over the past time; analyzing the causes of the congestion of agricultural products at the northern border gates and making recommendations for businesses.
Mrs. Bui Hoang Yen, Deputy Head of the Southern Working Group of the Trade Promotion Department-Ministry of Industry and Trade pointed out a series of issues that need to be noted for businesses in order to take advantage of incentives from FTAs, bring goods into the demanding markets such as Europe, the US, and adapting to the new regulations of the Chinese market.
In addition, at the seminar, many issues related to export markets and specialized inspection will be discussed directly by businesses, associations and speakers. In particular, a number of large enterprises also shared many practical experiences in market approach and branding of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international markets.
