More than 100 pieces of information about anti-smuggling processed through international cooperation

According to the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, in the first months of 2021, the collection and processing of information in the field of anti-smuggling has seen many positive developments.

The Department continues to develop and deploy topics to collect information on businesses, products, markets and areas with high risks and violations in order to take measures to prevent and fight them.

At the same time, it continues to advise on the implementation of the third phase of the Mekong Dragon campaign on regional cooperation in the fight against smuggling and illegal transportation of narcotics, precursors and wildlife. And then, submit to the leaders of the General Department of Vietnam Customs to advise the competent authorities to develop a deployment roadmap and appoint a focal point of Vietnam Customs to participate and coordinate in the campaign as a member.

In addition, the Department would continue to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in anti-smuggling by identifying key cooperation to deepen cooperation activities, serving professional activities.

Specifically, in the first six months of the year, the unit received 51 requests, of which 61 requests for assisting in verification were received from customs of countries and territories and some international law enforcement organisations.

The verification requests are mainly related to countries and territories of Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Laos, Japan, USA, Singapore.

At the same time, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department sent 47 verification requests to the Customs of other countries (with 18 responses received).
