Nearly 100% of pick-up cars were imported from Thailand

VCN - According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs announced, from 1st January 2017 to 15th March 2017, the country imported 3,900 pick-up cars, totaling $US 76 million, in that nearly 100% of the total cars were imported from Thailand.

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the result of importing pick-up car from the beginning of the year to 15th March 2017 increased slightly by 0.8% in volume, decline slightly by 1.7% in value over the same period in 2016.

Since the beginning of the year, pick-up cars have been imported to Vietnam with an average price of more than $US 19,000/car (excluding taxes).

Remarkably, the General Department of Vietnam Customs noted that the imported pick-up cars were mainly originating from Thailand with nearly 3,900 units, accounting for 99.6% of the total imported pick-up cars of the country.

Similarly, in the past two years (2016 and 2015), the number of pick-up cars originating in Thailand accounted for 99.9% of the total imported vehicles nationwide.

Regarding import activities of this car, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the segment from 2010 to 2016, the pick-up trucks imported to Vietnam both increased in quantity and value. Specifically, in 2010, Vietnam only imported 2,600 units; by 2016 this number reached 29,900 units, up to 10 times compared to 2010.
