Officials discover cigars at Noi Bai Airport

On May 22, at the customs supervision area of NCTS warehouse in the area of Noi Bai international airport, the Northern Anti-smuggling Enforcement Unit - Unit 1 (Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, General Department of Vietnam Customs) in collaboration with Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch (Hanoi Customs Department) inspected a cargo shipment transported by air from Germany to Noi Bai International Airport.
The shipment was opened declaration by APT Vietnam Import Export Trading Company - tax code 4900810300 (headquartered in Dong Kinh ward, Lang Son city, Lang Son province) under the type of storing in bonded warehouse (C11) at Chi Ma Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department).
Goods declared included three items: Aktiv toothpaste, brand new; hair shampoo Loves type 350 ml/bottle, brand new; and DIORRO's male sweatshirts and sweatpants (adult) brand new.
However, through professional measures, Unit 1 detected suspicious signs and requested the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch to stop transfering goods through customs supervision areas to conduct physical inspection of the shipments .

Reporters of the Customs News were present at the scene and witnessed the inspection by the customs force. Many goods did not match the information presented in the customs declarations such as magnetic cookers, dishwashers, electronic steamers and pot sets.
Notably, one shipment contained many famous brand cigar boxes such as Cohiba, Habanos and Magnum. In particular, the reporter saw many boxes containing cigars with a length up to 48.3 cm.
The case is being clarified by the customs force. Customs News will continue reporting on the case.
