Party Central Committee opens 13th session in Hanoi
The session will see members discuss a range of important matters, including the year’s socio-economic situation, plans ahead for 2021, draft documents proposed for the 13th National Party Congress, and a personnel plan for the 13th Party Central Committee.
During his opening speech, General Secretary Trong emphasised that the 13th Party Central Committee is being held amid Party organisations completing Party congresses at a grassroots level. This is being done in an effort to hold events among Party committees during the 13th National Party Congress.
He therefore called upon all participants to provide objective and comprehensive assessments on the nation’s socio-economic situation since the beginning of the year before making forecasts for the entirety of year. He also asked members to analyse shortcomings, factors behind them, and propose relevant solutions.
The Party Central Committee will also have to devise major tasks ahead for 2021 and the following years, in addition to planning for possible scenarios in order to prepare suitable responses for worst-case situations.
General Secretary Trong urged the committee to provide a thorough review of the latest draft documents of the 13th National Party Congress, in addition to adopting the draft Political Report, along with the draft reports on socio-economy and Party building. This should be done in order to send them to National Assembly deputies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), socio-political organizations, and the public to be discussed in mid-October.
Also being held at the event, the Politburo will submit a first-time draft list of nominated candidates for the Inspection Commission of the 13th Party Central Committee.
Upon highlighting the significant nature of personnel work, the Party General Secretary requested that the Central Committee carefully study the lists of nominated candidates for the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission in the 13th tenure.
With regard to personnel work, the Party chief underscored the importance of ensuring democracy, fairness, objectivity, and transparency, whilst calling for strict handling of any negative occurrences related to these efforts.
The 13th session of the 12th Party Central Committee is scheduled to run until October 10.
