PM calls for greater efforts to achieve 6.7% growth target
Accordingly, agriculture need to expand 3.05%, in which farm produce export must hit US$33 billion. Industry should grow by 7.91%, with mining, manufacturing and engineering, electricity and construction up 10.5%.
Services should grow 7.19%, in which tourism need to soar more than 30% and serve more than 13 million foreigners.
According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment a record 50,500 new enterprises were established in the first five months of this year. During the period, inflation was put under control while foreign direct investment attraction and tourism services posted growth.
The Finance Ministry offered refund of added-value tax online nationwide from May 12, marking great strides in administrative reform.
The PM also directed accelerating capital disbursement which has so far reached 30% while accelerating equitisation of State-owned enterprises.
The Prime Minister urged for increased oversight of the implementation of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, and the government’s requests at economic groups and corporations.
The government leader briefed cabinet members on the outcomes of his freshly-ended US visit, saying that Vietnam is one of the 16 countries running a trade surplus with the US. The two sides discussed a host of areas, from trade to national defence-security, including the East Sea issue.
The visit also marked a significant milestone in investment promotion, with the signing of economic deals worth up to US$12 billion, including business licenses in engineering and equipment, he said.
Intellectuals, overseas Vietnamese and US Congressmen expressed their support for Vietnam’s multilateral relations policy, particularly amid global integration at present, he added.
Regarding social affairs, PM Phuc said it is essential to deal with serious land erosion in the southwest, the medical incident in Hoa Binh provincial general hospital and pavement encroachment in many localities.
