PM Phuc rejoices over flourishing Vietnam-US ties

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) hosts first CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Adam Boehler.

PM Phuc said that the visit by his guest demonstrates the trust and good will for stronger cooperation towards practical contributions to the enhancement of the bilateral relations in the time to come.

He told his guest that Vietnam is poised to buy equipment and products from the US and striving to ensure balance trade with the US.

In reply, the US official conveyed regards from US President Donald Trump to PM Phuc and highlighted ongoing positive changes in Vietnam.

The DFC is paying attention to the Pacific and hopes that the Mekong region will develop well, he said, while pledging to increase more investment into Vietnam, especially in the areas of energy, health care and infrastructure.

As Vietnam is undertaking the role of the ASEAN Chair this year, the DFC desires to invest in the development of infrastructure in the Mekong countries, the official said, and promised to help make the US a top investor in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese cabinet leader stated his appreciation for the DFC’s efforts and described its plan to step up cooperation with Vietnam not only in investment as a good direction. He affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to work closely with the DFC in working out an investment programme in Vietnam as well as in other Mekong countries.

The Government chief voiced his hope that the DFC will discuss with Vietnam’s authorities on priority areas, especially energy and liquefied natural gas, and support US businesses’ investment in Vietnam, particularly the Mekong delta.
