Prevent "faked" iPhone, Samsung cross the Quang Ninh border

According to the correspondent of the Customs News, since April, the illegal border crossing of the mobile phones with large quantity has been occurring in Quang Ninh. To grasp the tastes of consumers, as well as the rising market demand, the mobile phones of the famous brands such as iPhone and Samsung have been brought by the smugglers. Notably, most of the exhibits arrested by the functional forces were not proved the origin of the goods. Not only that, some objects smuggled the goods without labels, even faked famous brands to deceive consumers. The objects involved in illegal transportation of goods also organized closely, there was the connection between the objects inland and abroad. After the goods were transported through the border crossing smoothly, they would be usually gathered at one point, if there was a favorable opportunity, they would be brought into cars, motorbikes… and transported into the inland. Daringly, some foreign objects wrapped the mobile phones around the bodies when making the entry procedures. In addition, some objects were been detected when using the motorcycles, the cars (4 seats), the passenger cars... to disperse the infringing goods.
Over the past time, the rush peak implementation of anti-smuggling, the Quang Ninh Customs instructed their units strengthen the inspection and control tightly in all key areas, through which, they prevented, arrested, handled severely many acts of smuggling, transportation, collection of the prohibited goods, the poor quality goods, including the mobile phones.
Only from April 2017 to now, the Quang Ninh Customs has detected nearly 10 cases, seized more than 1,000 mobile phones of all kinds. Talking to the reporters, the leaders of the Mong Cai International Border Gate Customs Sub-Department said that the unit had just issued the administrative fine of 60 million VND to Ms. Chan QianLan and destroyed 140 faked iPhones. On 24th April, the Import and Export Procedures Team II (Bac Luan) discovered, arrested Ms. Chan QianLan (Chinese) using sticky tape to wrap 140 faked iPhones around her body without the customs declaration. All goods purchased in Dong Hung (China) did not have any invoices proving the legality for bringing in to Vietnam. To handle the case, the border gate Customs Sub-Department transferred the information on image and IMEI... and quantity of the above goods to the Vo Tran Company (the unit registering to protect intellectual property at the border) and received the document requesting for the destruction of the goods due to infringement of intellectual property.

Then, on 11th June, at the Hoa Binh Boulevard in Zone 1, the Tran Phu Ward, Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh, the Customs Control Team No. 1 discovered Mr. Vuong Dinh Trung born 1983 (residing the Gieng Day Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh) who shipped 424 mobile phones of Chinese-language brand. At the same day, on the pavement of the Nguyen Van Cu Street, about 300m far from the Mong Cai coach station in the Ka Long Ward, the Customs officers continued to discover Mr. Pham Quang Quyet, born in 1985 (residing in Team 2, Zone 6, the Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City) who transported 400 mobile phones of Chinese-language brand. All infringing goods were manufactured by China without the enclosure accessories and legal documents in the Customs operation area.
Most recently, on 14th July, the Mobile Control Team of the Customs Control Team No. 1 examined and arrested Mr. Ngo Quoc Cuong, born in 1993 (residing in the Ninh Duong Ward, Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh) and 4-seater vehicle with number plate 14A-170.22, the Customs unit detected the vehicles carrying 191 iPhones and 13 Samsung mobile phones without documentary to prove The legal origin of the shipment, the value of material evidence was estimated at about 1 billion VND. Currently, the Customs Control Team No.1 has been finalizing the handling dossiers under the regulations.
In the last months of the year, the Quang Ninh Customs continues to focus on fighting and arresting for the prohibited goods and the goods which affect security, social order, and safety, the essential consumer goods; Resolutely not to form hot spots, smuggling lines, and groups within the area of the Customs operation. As a standing member of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, the unit also coordinates activities with the functional forces in the area such as the Police, the Border Guard, the market management... in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeiting.
