Preventing large smuggling cases by air

According to the General Department of Customs, in 2016, through the prevention and combat of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods by air, the Customs sector has achieved many positive results.

However, the violation cases by air still increased, affecting the political security, social orders and security in general, and aviation security in particular.

This operation focuses on banned goods, small goods and high value and goods easy to hide such as: Drugs, weapons, gold, products of wild animals, telephones, cigarettes, alcohol, cosmetics and supplementary foods etc.

Implementing the conclusions of the Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and the Chairman of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee on ensuring aviation security and preventing smuggling and trade fraud in civil aviation, the General Department of Customs requested the provincial and city Customs Departments to strictly and effectively implement the direction of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee and directed the Aviation Emergency Management Committee of provinces, cities, districts and islands, and implemented the directions of the General Department of Customs on ensuring aviation security.

The Customs Branches at the border gates need to comply with processes of Customs procedures for people and luggage of passengers on exit, entry or transit; imported and exported goods or goods in transit; and strengthen Customs inspection and supervision for the warnings which are provided by risk management units.

The Customs Enforcement Teams organize forces and collect information and control the area situation, and make the list of key objects; unify operational methods and prevent terrorism plots in a timely fashion, and prevent conspiracy to destroy the State of reactionists and determine not to let large cases occur.

The Risk Management Department focuses on the direction guideline for provincial and city Customs Departments to collect and analyze information of people exit and entry, who have high risk, the import and export businesses and shipments which have suspicious signs.

The Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department promotes Customs inspection operations and focuses on the sensitive and easy field such as: temporary import, re-export; bond warehouse, dependent transportation and business for duty free goods, and gift goods.
