Quang Tri: Discover 8 tons of smuggled sugar

Thai Lan sugar was seized by Quang Tri Customs force.

Typically, on 18/6, at Km 64, National Road 9, Customs Enforcement Team - Quang Tri Customs Department detected a person was buying imported goods without legal documents in the customs operation area includes 4 tons of white sugar; 1,000 packs of Jet cigarette; 4 rice cookers. The total value of those goods is worth more than 80 million vnd.

Then, on 19/6, at the two side gate of Gate B, Lao Bao Commercial Area, through patrols session, Lao Bao Trade Zone Customs Branch detected the act of transporting 1.4 tons of imported white sugar without lawful vouchers in the customs operation area.

On the same day, at both sides gate of Gate B, Lao Bao Trade Zone Customs Branch seized 1.6 tons of white sugar without legal documents in the customs operation area.

Previously, the Vietnam Sugarcane & Sugar Association has proposed the National Steering Committee 389 to direct the implementation of measures to combat smuggling and trade frauds drastically for sugar, especially the border of South Provinces, Lao Bao border gate (Quang Tri).

Accordingly, the Vietnam Sugarcane & Sugar Association proposed the Steering Committee 389 in the provinces should inform to the Association for announcing information among members in order to auction in accordance with current regulations (limited auction) if the competent forces seize smuggled sugar. The auction would not conduct publicly in order to avoid the situation of taking advantage of voucher and invoice turnover for smuggled sugar consumption.
