Following directions of the superior levels on enhancing anti-fraud of Vietnamese origin, Customs authorities identified importers and exporters in violations in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Hai PhongIn November, smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of goods was still a problem, GDC said.
Notably, Customs authorities also discovered enterprises importing cars with navigation software containing the "nine-dash line" map, which seriously violated Vietnam's territorial sovereignty.

As the standing agency of Steering Committee 389 of the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Customs advised the Ministry of Finance to work with the ministries, branches and agencies to strengthen the fight and prevention against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and illegal cross-border transportation of goods.
At the same time, it should be directing its units to seriously and effectively implement many important measures, focusing on building and perfecting the legal basis; improving the capacity of the specialised anti-smuggling force; investing in modern equipment and facilities; synchronous professional measures; strengthening coordination, and regularly inspecting and controlling key areas, as well as sensitive items.
In November, the Customs sector took the tackled a total 1,121 cases of violations with estimated value of infringing goods of nearly VND 159 billion, and collected more than VND 90 billion for the State budget.
Accumulated from the beginning of the year to the end of November, the Customs sector handled a total of 15,598 violations in the customs field with estimated value of infirming goods of nearly VND 2,515 billion; and collected nearly VND 346.4 billion for the State budget.

Lots of foreign currencies seized
Notably in the last month, the Customs force has repeatedly seized a lot of illegally transported foreign currencies and Vietnamese currency.
Typically, the Northern Anti-smuggling Enforcement Unit - Unit 1 (Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department) on October 18 discovered a customer carrying foreign currencies in excess of the amount allowed for non-declaration on the flight from Russia to Noi Bai International Airport. The foreign currencies were US$77,200 and more than one million rubles.
On November 3, Tinh Bien Border Gate Customs Branch (An Giang Customs Department) in collaboration with Tinh Bien International Border Guard Station detected seven people engaging in illegal cross-border transportation of currencies worth VND 135.8 million.
In addition, on October 31, Dinh Vu Port Customs Branch (Hai Phong Customs Department) discovered an enterprise importing seven passenger cars (5-seat type) of Hanteng brand, originating from China, 100 percent new, with screen navigation application containing the "nine-dash line" map that violates Vietnam's sovereignty.
On November 6, the Customs Branch outside the Industrial Park (Binh Duong Customs Department) discovered an enterprise engaging in trading and transportation of import and export goods without legal documents in the customs operation area. The infringing goods were 10,600 kg of aluminum scrap, estimated at VND 190.8 million.
Regarding drug crimes, on October 27, Moc Bai Border Gate Customs Branch (Tay Ninh Customs Department) in collaboration with the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department, the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes C04 (Tay Ninh police), the Moc Bai international border gate guard station arrested a Cambodian person for illegal transport of 5 kg of methamphetamine
