September: Vietnam's automobile market achieved growth of 24%

VCN- The latest updated figures of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) showed that Vietnam’s automobile market sold more than 26,000 vehicles, up 24% over the same period last year, therein, passenger cars reached 16,327 vehicles, commercial cars reached 9,117 vehicles, and special vehicles reached1,107 vehicles in September.

Therefore, totally, in the first 9 months of 2016, sales of the whole market reached 214,398 vehicles in all types, up 31% over the same periodlast year. With this growth, it is expected that the automotive market will achieve excellentresults in 2016 with a higher growth rate than last year.

In the last month, the leading sales of VAMA was stillThaco (Truong Hai) with 10,104 sold cars, up 37% over the same period last year. The Kia brand aloneachievedsales of 3,156 vehicles in September, up 54% over the same period last year, therein, Kia Morning sold more than 1,600 vehicles, Cerato sold nearly 600 cars.Mazda sold 2,850 vehicles last month, an increase of 48% over the same period. The best-selling Mazda car models were still Mazda3 with more than 1,100 vehicles, the CX-5 with 800 vehicles, Mazda2 with 500 vehicles…

However, in the passenger car segment, Toyota is the leading name with 5,110 sold vehicles, an increase of 9% over the same period last year. Vios reached 1,600 vehicles, Fortuner reached more than 1,200 vehicles; Altis reached more than 700 vehicles, only Innova dropped nearly 700 vehicles unexpectedly.

Ford continued to achieve high growth rate with 48%. Specifically, Ranger sold more than 1,100 vehicles last month, up 37% over the same periodlast year; Ecosport sold nearly 700 vehicles, up 64% over the same periodlast year; and Transit also reached nearly 700 cars.

Honda also achieved an increase of 27% over the same periodlast year, with 1,035 sold vehicles. City was still the model which played a key role in sales with 539 vehicles, the CR-V with449 vehicles.

GM sold 924 vehicles last month, up 20% over the same period last year. Spark (including the 2 seaterVan) and Cruze were still the 2 best-selling brands of Chevrolet in Vietnam with sales of 304 and 302 cars in September.

In the luxury car section, Mercedes went up slowly 5% with 483 sold cars, while Lexus increased 63%, reaching 91 sold units last month.

The market in October is expected to grow even higher when there will be 2 major automobile exhibitions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this month, this is also the time ofthe sales “season” of the automobile market.

In total of 9 months, mostVAMA members had growth, in which Thaco increased 50% with nearly 83,000 vehicles, Toyota increased 8% with 39,000 vehicles, Ford rose 55% with 21,000 vehicles, Honda rose 33% with nearly 8,000 vehicles,GM rose 38% with nearly 7,000 vehicles. Mitsubishi and Mercedes reached more than 4,000 cars with a corresponding increase of 55% and 37%. Lexus had an impressive increase of 72% up to 1,300 vehicles.
