Tay Ninh Customs seize cargo containers valued at US$ 36,000

On August 2, whilesupervising goods in transit, Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch detected a consignment under the declaration No. 500200801040 dated August 2019 registered at Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 under Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department byPhat Tai Nguyen Service and Trading Co., Ltd with suspicious signs.

Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch stopped the consignment and conducted aphysical inspection.

The consignment was loaded in the container No.NSSU7015969 and transported on a tractor trailer with license plate No. 51C-17816 driven by Nguyen Ngoc Thin. According to the initial declaration of Phat Tai Nguyen Service and Trading Co., Ltd, the consignment wasgeneral goods, new 100% made in Korea, weighing 20,228kg and worth US$ 35,913.25.

However, through the physical inspection, the Customs force detected that the seal of the vessel and the two Customs seals were cut. When the Customs force opened this container, it detected that container was empty. Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch made a report to certify the inspection result.

On August 3, Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch coordinated with the Southern Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Unit (Unit 3) under the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department of the General Department of Vietnam Customs and issued a decision on temporary seizure for the tractor trailer with license plate No.51C-17816 of D.H Company and the trailer license plate No.16R-3834 of S.P.N company and the empty container No. NSSU7015969 of Phat Tai Nguyen Service and Trading Co., Ltd.

Currently, Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch has transferred the case to Unit 3 for investigation.
